Congratulations, Class of 2025!

We are thrilled to welcome everyone to our in-person CS Commencement Ceremony!

Event Details

  • Date: Sunday, June 15, 2025
  • Estimated Duration: 1pm-3pm (subject to change; see schedule below)
    • 11:00 AM – Doors open to the public
    • 11:30 AM – Lunch available in The Grove
    • 12:45 PM – Graduates should be fully checked in and seated
    • 1:00 PM – Ceremony begins
  • Location: Frost Amphitheater (351 Lasuen St., Stanford, CA 94305)
  • Important Note: Tickets are not required for entry. However, graduates and their guests must present a lunch ticket in order to receive lunch. To receive lunch tickets, graduates must register their guest information on the Tassel website.

 General Terms & Conditions for ALL Attendees

Entering the venue shall be deemed consenting to ALL the General Terms & Conditions (below) and any other conditions set by Stanford University at its events.   

  • For students: Students should arrive with their gowns in hand (not worn) until they pass security checkpoints. Once inside, students may put on their gowns. A current Stanford photo ID is required for all participating graduates for check-in.
  • For all guests: Please read the list below in detail for ALL approved/unapproved items.
    • Permitted Bags
      • Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags, backpacks, or fanny packs that do not exceed 12" x 12" x 6"
      • One-gallon clear plastic bags (Ziploc bag or similar)
      • ​Small clutch bags approximately the size of a hand (no larger than 5”x 8”), with or without a handle or strap (can be carried separately or within a plastic bag)
      • Dedicated hydration packs with no more than 2 compartments that need to be completely emptied before entry
    • The following is NOT permitted INSIDE the venue:
      • Amplification equipment or noisemakers of any kind
      • Signs, flags/flag poles/totems, flyer distribution, banners, or posters
      • Balloons
      • Chairs with any structured legs (low-back lawn chairs are NOT allowed)
      • Aerosol spray cans (sunscreen or bug spray)
      • Weapons of any kind
      • Solid backpacks, solid fanny packs, solid purses, or any other bag not approved in the “clear bag” policy
      • Liquids in non-factory-sealed containers
      • Outside alcohol and cutlery or metal silverware of any kind
      • Reusable metal water bottles over 20 oz.
      • Glass of any kind
      • Large blankets (over 40"x60”)
      • Tables and umbrellas
      • Coolers, picnic baskets
      • Strollers, wagons, scooters, skateboards, bicycles
      • Animals (except for service animals as defined by the ADA)
      • Cameras with detachable lenses, audio or video recording devices, GoPros, selfie sticks
      • Smoking and vaping devices (smoking or vaping is not allowed anywhere in the venue)
      • Aerosol cans
      • Hula hoops
      • Flow toys
      • Glow sticks, light sticks, and poi balls (or any other battery-operated light larger than 2" long)
      • Laptops or tablets

Any attendee causing disruptions or found with prohibited (or otherwise restricted) items may be subject to removal from the venue.   

  • Livestream (via YouTube) and filming will occur at this event: This event will be photographed, and webcast live. Official photographs may be taken by staff for posting on Stanford websites and may be used in other university publications. By entering this event venue, you consent to Stanford University using your image and likeness.

Important Updates

CS Student Services Reminder

  • Interested in participating in the CS Commencement Ceremony? Please complete the CS Commencement Ceremony Interest Form via SmartSheet (this form is only intended for BSCS, MSCS, and Coterm students) by the May 2nd, 2025, 5pm PST deadline.
    • Important Note: Once the CS Commencement Ceremony Interest form is closed, it will no longer take any submissions.
      • This form only serves to let the ceremony organizers know about your interest in participating in the CS Commencement Ceremony and does NOT guarantee participation. The CS Student Services team will update you regarding your attendance after reviewing your submission. Students who are confirmed to participate in the CS Commencement Ceremony (before/by the deadline) will be notified.
      • Only those that are confirmed to participate and had submitted by/before the deadline will have their names listed in the program pamphlet and will be recognized on stage at the ceremony.
      • Please look out for any communications from SmartSheet, CS ceremony team, or the CS Student Services team.
  • You may attend the CS Commencement Ceremony, if you are:
    • Applying to graduate in Axess (and have received approval on your program sheet) or;
    • Participating as a walk-through student (i.e. students who are not applying to graduate and have met the eligibility requirements). To participate as a walk-through student, at least one of these should apply to you:
      • BS students must have completed 160 undergraduate units
      • MS students must have completed 36 graduate units
      • PhD students must have completed 135 units and all the milestones. For walk-through students, oral exams must be completed by May 23, 2025. Helen Buendicho Madrigal has emailed a survey containing all the necessary details—please ensure you submit it by the same (May 23rd) deadline.

Health & Safety Update

  • Public Safety Clear Bag Policy
  • We will have a limited bag check station and cannot guarantee that there will be space available for your bag. Be aware that any checked bag may be subject to inspection when checking it in.
  • All attendees are subject to security screening.
  • We follow all federal, state, and local guidelines regarding public health and safety.


Preparation

  • Graduate Check-in: Doors open at 11:00 AM. The graduate entrance will be at the Galvez Gate.
    • Check-in tables are ordered alphabetically by last name. Please bring your Stanford Student ID in order to check-in. The digital copy will suffice.
    • Graduates are required to check in and must do so by 12:30 PM. All graduates must be fully checked in and seated by 12:45 PM.
    • All other attendees must enter through the Lasuen Gate.
    • Tickets are not required for entry. However, tickets for the luncheon are required.
  • Allocate time in your schedule to account for the security screening process.
  • A simple bagged lunch will be ready for pick-up in The Grove starting at 11:30 AM. A lunch ticket must be presented for luncheon redemption.
  • To receive luncheon tickets, graduates must register both themselves and their guests using the Tassel registration form. Tickets will be available for pick-up at the Gates Computer Science Building. Specific dates and times for ticket distribution will be announced soon.
